Senior Lens Design Lead

Aptina Imaging produces a line of CMOS image sensor and image processing chips for state-of- the-art camera systems for mobile, DSC, and emerging markets. As a Senior Lens Design Lead at Aptina, you will work within the Camera Systems Group in the Technology organization. This group is involved in all aspects of camera design for future imaging products, including lens design. You will join a group of experts in imaging science and have the following responsibilities:
- Lens design of compact lenses used in mobile products
- Tolerance and stray light analysis
- Research into new lens design strategies
- Possible oversight of a small team of lens designers and optics engineers.
Successful candidates for this position will have:
- 10+ years working in the field of lens design.
- Extensive practical experience in designing compact lenses used in mobile products.
- Familiarity with optomechanical aspects of manufacturability.
- A strong background in tolerance and stray light analysis.
- Exposure to wafer-level optics techniques and extended depth of field (EDoF) lens design is highly desirable.
- The ability to work closely with other team members in the Camera Systems group, and to communicate results and ideas clearly
- Experience with fast-paced consumer product development is highly desirable.
- This role is likely to require the oversight of a small team of lens designers and optics engineers. As such, weight will be given to team lead experience as well as the desire to lead a team.
Education:
PhD with 5+ years or MS with 8+ year in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related.
